Yes,
we must admit we didn't succeed to occupy Serbia or Yugoslavia,
we didn't defeat the Yugoslav Army, we didn't remove Milosevic and we didn't get control over Kosovo. Kosovo is still a part of Yugoslavia. Unfortunately after 35.000 combat sorties of our mighty air force we destroyed only 13 Serb tanks, but it is because they fooled us with their decoys. |
The
sad truth is that during the Operation "Allied Force" NATO's air
forces lost three F-117A stealth bombers, and about 60 other combat planes, and over 1000 cruise missiles. Also, not just NATO pilots were killed in Yugoslavia, but unfortunately also many search-and-rescue troops that were tasked with locating downed pilots. Yugoslav air defenses have shot down five NATO helicopters, which alone resulted in deaths of about 100 troops of our Alliance. Yes, this was a disaster for NATO. |
